For those of you who are runners, ahem, this won’t be very impressive, but I clocked my first sub 6minute mile today at 5:53.9. This is a personal best for me; even when i was running cross-country (socially) in high school I never broke the 6 min mark. It’s a nice milestone in my “getting back into shape” training, which started in June. I had fallen a little out of shape in the year since moving to Boston due to the stress of moving and the loss of my scheduled physical activity (mainly ice/roller hockey leagues and tennis).
In June, one of my co-workers started the process of becoming certified in crossfit training, and has been putting together training regimens for me. My typical week includes 3 days of strength training, one day of running, and one day of soccer (all during lunchtime break at work), and then the occasional ice hockey or squash in the evenings and weekends. I haven’t missed a workday workout in 4 months. Coinciding with my running milestone, last week i worked up to lifting my own bodyweight in both bench-press and back squat sets, and the bathroom scale reads my target weight as well. Now if i could just figure out a way to KEEP DOWN ALL THIS ROID RAGE!!!
